Hi I was wondering if 71% ram usage alright with 4 GB Ram and 5 chrome tab open?

Specs

Dell inspiron 580

- intel i5 760

-4gb ddr3 ram

- windows 10 64bit

-nvidia gt220

-1tb hdd

I'm more surprised by the fact that you don't have 8GB or 16GB of RAM.

There is nothing inherently wrong with seeing 71% RAM usage when you have only 4GB RAM.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

4GB RAM is cutting it pretty close these days. Yeah, it's manageable but not that fun.

As long as you are using it for office work, you'll be fine. Although I generally like to have plenty of headroom when it comes to RAM just to give me peace-of-mind.

Get another 4GB stick and throw it in your system. If you only have 2 RAM slots and they are both filled, get an 8GB stick for a total of 10GB of RAM.

The system only supports up to 8gb 1333mhz ddr3 ram. Sometimes open a new window of Microsoft edge instead of new tab

upgrade to 8GB RAM?

That seems like a pretty decent solution to me.

"Dude you're getting a Dell" basically interpreted as 4 GB was the absolute minimum Dell could sell a computer with back in 2009/2010. So that's what the OP got!

Considering it's DDR3, this is a really good idea. You can find 2x4GB for pretty cheap. Maybe $60. I don't know if that system can support 1x8GB so be careful about that. Best thing to do is to buy another 1x4GB of the stick Dell originally included, but that's probably going to be difficult to find.

did you subtract the ram used for cache before reporting ram use? theres more to ram than a % free. if you are not getting high pagefaults then you have no need to upgrade. do you want to post a screenshot of the resource tab of task manager?

PC has been on all day, Origin and Firefox are currently open and Systray Icons are GFE/MSI/Netlimiter, Browsing with a few tabs (holding a paused YT vid and a google image page) and a forum.

2.6GB Used.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I'm using about that much with 3 tabs and a video going on firefox on my desktop. 8/10 optimize ram usage  reasonably well from my experience, my work laptop only has 4gb of ram and I'm yet to find something that I can't do like general browsing, typing, email etc. I mean it's not going to run any simulations or render but I don't need it to.

Silent build - You know your pc is too loud when the deaf complain. Windows 98 gaming build, smells like beige

GFE? Girlfriend experience? Oh my. Haha.

Net limiter seems amazing. Why haven't I seen this before? D=

There needs to be a thread for cool programs.

I doubt you even managed to install it on 2GB

Windows can technically work on 2GB RAM. I don't imagine that anybody would have a good time on it.

it was only ok for browsing. could play 1080p youtube without trouble but it does have a quad core celeron. I had to upgrade to do programming and run an android vm on it

I also use it for visual studio as I main Linux. Did I meant 80% execution cap? 2gb is enough for Windows 10.

you know the requirements at 1gz cpu, 1gb for 32bit and 2gb for 64bit.

actually this requirement is out of date.

Windows 10 Build 10586/14393 or newer require 2GB RAM for Desktop regardless if you choose 32 Bit or 64 Bit.
