that's a joke right? window defender is the lightest, what's your spec?

I read online that disabling windows defender worked. He has 4 gigs of ram and a 560ti, the ram maxes out before i can install the drivers for his 560ti, and is the CPU and Ram being maxed out

You never said what CPU he has. Also have you opened task manager and watched what programs are causing the ram to "max out"?

i recommend hw monitor to monitor the system.

He has 4 gb. I'm sure that's plenty for windows 7

He has an old cpu, and like i said its a fresh install, he has 3 things installed. Avast, Malware Bytes, and google chrome

Did you make sure avast / malware bytes aren't performing a scan for some reason? Windows 7 and Google Chrome alone shouldn't "max out" your ram. Like I said, checking task manager to see what is causing the issue will give you the most information to see what's going on

I mean the ram and cpu being maxed out? I dont think what cpu it is would make it do that. Its the amd 4000+

its a 2008 cpu, its old starting chrome with few tabs would max out the cpu. i suggest you get a newer cpu or have a light linux build going. your ram being maxed-out is called memory leak.

Yes i ran scans on both to see if there was something wrong and there wasnt. No scans running. And when i check the task manager the highest ram usage i get is 10,000k. Im idleing with the task manager open and as i leave it sit there the usage goes up and up til it just powers up

Increase the pagefile size.  It's definitely not as good as more RAM, but it should prevent your system from crashing due to a lack of it.

If he has Windows 7, it's also the shittiest.  It's only an anti-spyware.  Avast will have more of an impact on performance, but less so than most, and it's one of the most effective.
