Make Directory Read Only permanantly

I use uTorrent for downloading things like Ubuntu ISOs, Blender, Gimp, etc. Free software that provides torrents as a means of faster downloading. However it automatically downloads updates even though I have autoupdate turned off. It downloads an exe called utorrentie.exe and that raises CPU usage a lot. I usually "end process tree" and then delete the "updates" folder but they eventually come back. I want to make the uTorrent directory read and execute only.

Can I do this with Command Prompt?

you could do it with the windows interface if you have acces to that,
otherwise i found this after a quick google: http://superuser.com/questions/653951/how-to-remove-read-only-attribute-recursively-on-windows-7

i have never been impressed with the Utorrent client. Transmission won't do this to you. Do you mean you want to change Utorrents working directory read only so it is locked out of updating; that might cause it to crash if it hasn't been programmed to catch the error caused by trying to read to a read only folder

I want to change the whole uTorrent directory so it will only allow the program to run and nothing else. I did this once with a group policy but that was a bit TOO restrictive.
