Hello everyone ,im having a little problem, i recently bought a new case and some new fans, everything works perfectly except for the case fans, they sometimes take time to start when i turn on my pc or dont start at all, they are connected on the sys_fan 1,2 and 3 headers on the motherboard, all 4 pins, this didnt happen on my old case that had its own fans, I tried configuring from the BIOS and a program called System information viewer from gigabyte, with the program i can turn on all the fans but i have to do it myself, they dont start as i press the power button or take time to start, this happens sometimes, there are cases where all the fans start correctly and there are cases where one or two take time to start or dont start at all until i use the SIV program.

Any fix? Thanks

Your motherboard might have a 0RPM mode or something

you could try molex adapters, but I'd suggest just picking up like a Sentry Mix 2

I have molex adapters, but wouldnt it be like connecting a fan to a 3 pin motherboard header? because i did that the first time and the fan was really, really noisy

Ya it would just run it at 100%, the fan controller is a decent investment, it'll work on any fans, you'll basically have it forever, you could try updating your motherboard's firmware

It's probably the best fan controller to get, 6 channels and glorious slider action

Which mobo? Only highest end Gigabyte boards have native PWM on all fan headers. Most of them only have CPU_FAN and CPU_OPT with native PWM. So connecting PWM fans to other headers is just like having 3pin in 3pin headers.

Molex and 3pin on mobo are different. You can't control molex while you can voltage control 3pins. Gigabytes own software is (or has been) crap. Speedfan is much better but requires some tweaking to get everything working.

I have 3 case fans on gigabytes mobo. All 3pin, all controlled with Speedfan.

Gigabyte z97x gaming 7, on the manual it says that cpu_fan , cpu_opt and from sys_fan1 to sys_fan3 can be controlled, sys_fan4 is the only one that cannot be controlled according to the manual

I wouldn't say the software is crap, per se, but it does get absolutely fucking retarded when you try to set up a 0RPM curve on CPU_OPT. AKA the fans don't turn on and you find your Pentium is running nearly 90C on a 212 EVO (heheh woopsies).

As for OPs question, maybe resetting BIOS might fix it? I know with my board, it has a teeny tiny delay after pressing the power button before it even does anything at all (and I have the Gaming 5).

Sysfans don't have PWM either. They are hooked on controller chip which makes them controllable with SIV or Speedfan. 4th sysfan isn't hooked on controller and would be full speed all the time. So if your fans are PWM, they might not get enough voltages to speed up on startup. You could get powered PWM hub and config them all with CPU_FAN PWM header. My experience with trying to use PWM fans on Gigabytes 3pin headers wasn't really good one. Maybe you and @tmcclelland455 have better luck.

SYSFAN_4 isn't supposed to be controlled? I have the AF140L in my PSU (stock fan got too loud for me) running off of that header and it's set to run at 600RPM (and more importantly, it is running 600RPM)...

Ach, I'm not sure. My old mobo had sysfan1 with own controller, sysfan2&3 both on another controller and sysfan4 which wasn't even monitored by mobo.

E: On Gaming 7 mobo, Sysfan4 isn't listed in manual for controllable fans. On Gaming 5, you don't even have 4th sysfan header. Just 1-3 which are controlled.

For whatever reason I was thinking that CPU_OPT was the first one rofl
