Maybe just try powering it down and then unplugging and plugging it back in. Are you using a modular psu?

The only reason I'm here is that I have homework that I don't want to do

It took me half an hour to find where to change my signature :(

That means that the gpu is not getting enough power from the psu.

I know this sounds silly, but check the plugs where the 8pin pci cable plugs into the PSU...

If you have a case with psu cover then you cannot see if the pci cable is loose from the PSU. That happened to me before where I'm trying to check the connection between the pci cable and the GPU but didn't know that the PCI cable is actually loose/not connected to the PSU, it may get pulled out from me trying to do cable management after building the PC

It should be 6+2, not a pure "8 pin" connector.

Is it plugged on both the PSU and the GPU properly?

Is it plugged where it should be plugged on the PSU?

Be sure it's firmly pushed in, if you can remove it without lifting the little tab, it's not pushed in enough.

What is the wattage of your PSU and what is the GPU ?
