Help with pci e connector?

I have a split pci that was meant for sli? I'm guessing but I want it to look clean in my build is there any way to modify the cable? I tried using the 6 pin to 8 pin adapter that came with my evga gtx1080 ftw but it didn't fit ironically...

At best, you can tie them back like you did in the photo. Modifying them really is not recommended if it's a semi-permanent modification as that will void your warranty. There is one other alternative though, and that's simply to get PCIe cable extenders, and then hide the original connectors behind the motherboard, but cable management might be more difficult due to the artificially increased length.

how do people get really clean looking builds? is it just my power supply? if I got a new one would I have the same problem?

It depends on how it's set up. Different manufacturers will have different cable setups.

Back to the cable extenders, is that the same thing as the 3rd photo I posted? Or is a 6 pin to 8 pin adapter different. Because it refused to click into my gpu, it slid in but would not click and could be pulled out easily

The non-clicking aspect is probably due to the "tooth" being offset, and the finger not being able to latch onto it. You can get eight pin extenders that would just connect to the existing cables.

I have what is shown a 6pin with +2 pin but the other one attached to it is only a 6 pin with no +2 pin, eventually I want to run a sli setup but for now would this product work for me to have a cleaner looking inside?

It won't work for your purposes. I think with the power supply's cables in their current state, you're effectively limited to a single card.

can you suggest an extension that looks good that will work with my card? I don't care about color or anything I just need to know the right part. I would be grateful. cable management isn't an issue

Here's an eight pin extender from BitFenix.

They have other colors available. I'm not stating the six pin won't work, but the issue is your card is using two eight pin connectors. You would probably need to buy four of the above extenders(the 6+2 connector should work with no issues).
