More Gigabyte trouble.

I'm currently at work so I'll keep it short.

 

New motherboard: GA-990X-Gaming SLI

New CPU: FX-4320

Old AIO: Corsair H80

Overclock: None.

 

Problem(s):

CPU temperature never seems to go over 20C even while stress testing. I have yet to try and re-apply thermal paste and reseat the AIO's pump/waterblock. This is extremely troubling since I have no way of knowing how far I'm pushing the CPU's thermals. I don't need another dead board on my hands.

 

I have no control over fans, case or CPU. The fans are currently stuck at 100% which is making my PC sound like it's about to liftoff. I have tried the awful Gigabyte software and SpeedFan. Nothing is working. Unless I find a way to control the fans, I'll be hooking them up to a fan controller but that'll take at least another couple months (until I either build one or buy one).

 

The lack of fan control is an issue, but not as urgent as the temperature readings which are extremely wrong. I'd appreciate any ideas regarding the temps. I will be testing my old 4300 in the hopes that it isn't dead and subsequently reseating and reapplying thermal paste on the FX 4320

The temps are most likely because programs are reading the wrong sensors, as far as i know, there's no way to fix that.

Even the UEFI is showing the same temps

It changes. Anywhere from 2C to 24C, or at least that's the range I've noticed.

Sounds to me like a wrong reading. Although I have heard that with AMD chips, the temp is 20C higher than what it says in a temperature reading software.

I hope not otherwise mine idles at 80+C, adding 20 to the hwmonitor readings

Not sure if it's true, but I heard that a few places on this forum. It might just be one software though.

That is, in fact, untrue.

What is true is the fact that the mechanism for temp reading doesn't work very well when temps are under 20C, which isn't the case, at least here, specially under load.

 

My old FX 4300 was quite accurate within a half degree when over 25C (which is less than ambient, so quite a rare occurrence), having tested it with an external socket probe (which, unfortunately, I no longer have).

 

I'll test a couple of theories regarding bad waterblock mounting pressure and if no solution presents itself I'll be left with suspecting a bad socket temp probe, which will probably make me RMA the board, which I don't really want to, considering it's brand new (I will, however, wait until my old MSI 970 Gaming's RMA comes to a conclusion)
