Belair 20E access point issues
admin / default access to belair 20e wifi router via http -
*Note - i just did this procedure on a macbook to re-verify all the steps and make sure I had the details correct before posting here. It should work just the same on a PC or linux system in terms of IP settings. Don’t be TIMID.
1) Reset the Belair20E Networks Wireless access point. The reset port is next to power port on back - I find it typically takes from 30-60 seconds pressing down to trigger the reset. When the reset happens, you should see ALL lights on it go dark for a few seconds, then it reboots.
2) Disconnect your computer from any wired ethernet. Then, manually assign the following settings to your local ETHERNET port / card (or whatever the heck you have in your computer system for available ethernet port - network configuration).
static IP: 10.1.1.11
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
-leave all other fields BLANK-
3) Connect your ethernet cable from computer to the Balair 20E using any of the 4 LAN ports on back of the router. NOT the WAN PORT!! OK?!
4) Open a web browser (chrome worked great for me btw). DISABLE any adblockers and such that you might have active your browser.
Then type the following IP address in the address field: 10.1.1.10
The username and password are root / admin123. And YES they DO WORK if you are using the IP settings I have outlined here.
5) The thing NOBODY EVER FREAKING EXPLAINS about these routers is simply this - after a factory reset is performed, the only available IP address on the router for admin access via the web GUI is the 10.1.1.10 address. And it’s ONLY accessible via ethernet wired connection - NOT over wifi! Depending on firmware build, it might show the admin login window over wifi connection - and lets you knock at the door, without letting you in. So you think it’s you - or bad credentials - but it’s not - so be sure to connect via ETHERNET to avoid this conundrum.
** If you still can't access after doing all these steps, you probably didn’t do a successful reset on the device (in step 1). Do another reset. Then try again. If it won’t cooperate and you’re sure you did all steps correctly (and your not trying to access it via wireless for the admin level setup) then you might have a bad device. I found this to be the issue once in a while.
IMO these routers are AWESOME for home or business locales once you get in there and configure them correctly. I have used them for many clients in recent years (2012-2017) without a single issue. ROCK SOLID build, designed to handle industrial strength situations (public buildings, tech facilities, airports etc etc.) so they handle home use without even trying hard. Good strong signal, good internal antenna, lots of config details for super nerds, etc. If you have several of the same model, there are group modes you can set them up with to control multiple units together. Those are more advanced configs, and I haven’t gone down that road yet so I will offer no advice here on that option. Just saying, they have a lot of cool stuff waiting under the hood for anyone who wants to explore all the options they contain. Users manual is available online for free download. Google it. So anyway, don’t believe anyone who says they can’t be reset and used per normal router setup that all us techie folks typically deal with. Anyone who claims these routers can’t be set up like any other router doesn’t have a clue how or is making things up. But now you have what you need to go boldly forth. sI SET THEM UP ALL THE TIME for my clients - THEY ARE GREAT. I re-use old ones a lot too (as long as you verify / test beforehand that all functions are working normally) because I sometimes find discarded ones in the IP closets of buildings where a client upgraded to another system, or simply didn’t know how to reconfigure them, so they set them aside. Their loss, MY GAIN. Have a nice day. You’re welcome.
