I currently have a 128gb (100 usable) Samsung 850 Evo, and some random 7200 rpm 1tb drive.

All my data is messed up, skewed across the two drives, everything is a mess. Both drives are full, and life is just annoying.

I use the SSD for Windows, and that's about it. The 1tb drive has games, SSD backup, programs, drivers, and most, media files I create for my business. Lots of media.

I need more storage, and a fresh start.

First I want to get at least 250gb SSD with equal or better speed compared to the Evo I have to store the Adobe suite, Ableton Live 9, a game or two, windows, and some music.

I would reporpose my 100gb Evo as a scratch disk and maybe catch for an HDD.

I would get a new drive for the media, and keep everything else on the 1tb drive moving media from it to the new drive.

Maybe put two 4tb drives in raid for redundancy for media?

Questions:

1. What drives?

2. What do you think about this configuration?

3. How can I do about backup?

4. Should I just invest in Nas?

I don't have a budget, but money takes time to get, so cheaper the better. I don't need the best, just enough to get me by.

If your on the cheap get a mx300 otherwise just get another 850 evo.I would store All your professional stuff like Adobe,os and Ableton on the 120gb drive.Move the games to the 250gb drive.Do not worry about raid unless you have something really important on them.If you have money just buy a 1tb ssd and build a nas if you actullay have that much files

Should I change my Windows installation disk to a larger 850 Evo? What about a new drive for media?

I do video related projects, for which I need to put online for customers to download. I have been using OneDrive but it's limited to 2gb a file and the sync feature only works sometimes.

I have found that 120gb is just not enough for anything. Would it make sense to close the 100gb SSD to a new larger one or insta new windows?

Convert VHS tapes to DVDs. The recorded format is like 30gb per hour long tape. I have to re-encode in compressed format to get them to 2-4gb and delete the original. How often k get them varries alot. My customera need a digital copy to get the finished product.
