Dell Inspiron 570? rebuild?

asand1

My daughter will be 14 next month I was thinking about an i5 CPU/Mobo upgrade on her PC. She is playing GTAV and Warframe among other games on what I believe is a Dell Inspiron 570. It is at her mothers house and I cant be sure what it is until I have it here to clean it up. I know it has an AMD quad core on I believe AM2 with DDR3. I have enough DDR3 RAM to give her 12Gb but I don't know what FF the mobo is.

Cliffs:

What Form factor is the Dell Inspiron 570? I would like to do an i5 and motherboard upgrade.

Yeah that's what i've found so far. I have to keep costs down due to divorce costs, I am thinking sandy/ivy bridge due to the DDR3 I have an abundance of. Is that 1155?

AMD mobo doesn't work with Intel CPU.

I know, I want to replace mobo and CPU with something that'll do GTA V at 60FPS high settings. was thinking Ivy i5 and mobo.

Oh. Yeah, 1155 is 3rd and 2nd gen cpu. It would do. See if you can get Haswell and 1150 mobo for cheap.

@Bubblewhale

I think I will swap my HP M3970AM (Angelica2) mobo and FX 4300 into the Dell with 12GB DDR3. If I'm right, the Dell only has a Athlon II X2 250. 1949 VS 4629 on Passmark. I will see next Friday.

That will be a bit of an upgrade, my friend has a X2 270 and it struggles in some games (Overwatch).

Yeah I watched her playing GTA on it the other day and it was abysmal. She also only has a GT 740, but I'm sure the CPU is the weakest link.

It'll perform fine, just make sure to have some faster RAM as GTA 5 does gain FPS from having higher clocked ram.

Q9550 gets around 4K in Passmark, FX 4300 should perform better than shown in the video.

This is with an i7 4790 and GT 740 2GB OC like the one she has.

I did notice a huge average FPS increase from upgrading my GPU( 270X to Fury), minimum FPS when I upgraded my CPU( FX-8320 to i5-6500).

Looks like the FX 4300 runs ok with a GTX 960. I think the FX 4300 and GT 740 2GB will do fine together.
