A few days ago I upgraded to z270 and 7700k from z170 with 6700k (ik thats not worth the performance gain), and I was experiencing really bad temp from there :( idk if it is the mobo or the 7700k. I am using the nzxt x52 aio. 37-40C idle, 70-75 during cinebench for stock and temps are gonna fly for a 1.3v OC, 90-100C underload (not even aida 64). Then I delidded my cpu (well the first time ever done this) and replaced it with mx4 (liquid metal still on the way). OH forgot to mention the temps above are after delidedding, B4 that the temps are worth, like over 80C playing overwatch at stock speed at voltage.

Whys the voltage so high? what clocks are you running?

How were the 6700k temps on that cooler?

You need to lower your voltage most likely

best thing to do is a stock re-baseline the CPU after the delid.. sounds like the CPU mount is fouled, the MX TIM isn't covering the die, or your overvolting is too much.

the stock baseline will affirm the mount and voltage issues.

What are you using to monitor temps? I had an issue years ago that needed a bios update as it wasn't reporting temps correctly.

over 80C at stock voltage with aida 64 actually over 85C, i dont consider that normal

Watch the review and read this, the Z270 boards have issues with using too much voltage

When you take the cooler off, does the thermal paste look evenly spread and it's in a thin layer?

yea i did it a couple times im sure theres no problems

hw monitor and the msi on board cpu temp reporting thing, showing  the same number, and theres only one bios version for the new z270 mobo

Try stock again and dial the voltage back to lowest you can get it whilst it remains stable at stock clocks, see how temps are then

If you're having the same issue with both the 6700k and the 7700k, then the likely issue is with your cooler.

7700k temps are like 10-15C higher than 6700k (both stock same cooler same thermal compound

but nothing about what voltage at stock...

Yea ur right but I can manage to get under 80C at 1.37v for 6700k under aida64, 1.3v at 90-100C during cinebench is simply too high

Lower the core voltage, I lowered my to about 1.26V (effective volts is lower) and I dropped about 20C. It was hitting 100C but now it stays around 80C at max.

Good thing you used all caps, otherwise nobody would have been able to hear your post. 9_9

Anyway, as others have said, lower the voltage.  It's way too high.

ik how to make it safe just saying it's not normal and i really wanna hit that 5Ghz that's the reason I upgraded for 6700k

msi needs UEFI help.. TTL and others have basted msi for their slow to help UEFI updates.

you'd have to do a manual undervolt stock to restart. i wouldn't do much until the engineers can sort out their voltage issues. asus has already found newer UEFI to lower temperatures and better performance.
