Upgrading my Amd 880K system

Hello all. Hoping someone can help me out. 

Current specs:

Amd x4 880k

12 gb ram 1600mhz

Rx 480 8gb

And other stuff

 

I think my current cpu isn't allowing my rx 480 to stretch its legs. 

 

My budget is 250 dollars for cpu and mobo 

 

So I am think about changing platforms, and I am wondering. On my budget I could get an i5 4460 & B85 chipset mobo for like 240. But will that older gen i5 bottleneck my 480? If you think it will what else could I do for that budget?

The 4460 will do just fine.

And no, I don't think you can get better, unless you find a really cheap 4690k and a Z97 board.

I would wait for it. In fact, I am waiting for it to get rid of my 760k

$250 won't buy a cpu upgrade. I'd save some money first.

maybe something like this..... under your budget so you could get a board that you know will support the cpu out of the box.......... cost $195.00

I was thinking about that pentium, seem like a great processor. But won't that dual core bottleneck the rx 480? I mean I only play at 1080 p but I was thinking about getting a 21:9 monitor for Xmas this year.

Why not a i5-6400 or i3-7350K? (the later needs a costly board and CPU cooler)

there's room in the budget ( $ )  for a cpu swap. however, an i5 will put you over that budget. it's up to you whether or not you want to go that route........ the 4620 is 2core 4thread and isn't that bad, especially for the money. what it does do is give you a cheap, faster build with an upgrade path if you choose it. ( i5 maybe ). I just wanted to put something out there to give you ( and me ) an idea of what can be put together for the money and perform over  what you have now.........

maybe digitalfoundry has some vids with this or similarly inexpensive processors ( builds ) you might like more..??  you should look.
