Hi,

I'm seeking further knowledge with regards to screen resolutions particularly the so-called NATIVE resolution.

I have a GTX 750ti graphics card which requires me to use DVI or a mini-HDMI cable (NO VGA OUTPUT). The monitor I'm using is Samsung SyncMaster SA100 1366 x 768 HD with VGA capability ==> this made me use an adapter, a VGA->DVI adapter for my monitor & vcard to work together.

Now, upon checking my NATIVE RESOLUTION, I found out that I only have 1024 x 768 (as seen in the picture). Undeniably, on my part, when I set it to the native one I felt better looking at the display of my monitor as seen in the picture 1024.jpg (the 2nd pic). The 3rd picture (1366.jpg) is a reference to compare both displays.

Pls enlighten me, is this normal for me to have such low NATIVE resolution? Also, I want to know WHAT WOULD BE THE PERFECT ASPECT RATIO when I play games specifically dota 2. 4:3 16:9 or 16:10 with my current potato setup.

Thank you so much in advance, I'll be waiting for your generous response.

According to this manual;

http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201205/20120517102900383/SA100-05Eng.PDF

Page 19/34, your monitor supports 1920x1080 resolution, why it's saying 1024x768 could be due to Windows plug-n-play not knowing what TFT you have, and thus picking a safe option.

If you select 1920x1080 and it does not support that resolution wait 15seconds for Windows to turn back.

If the manual is correct your monitor is a 16:9 1920x1080 (1080p) Syncmaster much like my secondaries which I run via DVI leads to my PC and one to my Mac Mini.

Thanks for responding quickly, Sir.

I tried the 1920x1080 display but I get a blurry display which makes it uncomfortable to use. SyncMaster SA100, this Samsung Monitor has a fixed 1366 x 768 HD (not full HD) monitor on a VGA display. I'm just wondering why I don't see any recommended SCREEN resolution as well.

The recommended will be set via the drivers, Windows will be using standard VGA display drivers, which are perfectly fine however will only show recommend at a low resolution due to not knowing the native resolution of your display (1333x768).

I am assuming here that you are using the drivers for your graphics card?

If so then don't worry about it use the 1333x768 resolution for your display and don't worry about it. :)

Thanks, Sir. Now I'm elightened and am using the 1366 x 768 reso on my desktop. For my games, I set them to 1280 x 720p specifically to avoid blurred text.

Hey!
I know it's been eight years since this issue arised and im pretty sure you dont have the same hardware still. But I just wanted to let you know it's because of the DVI ->VGA adapter . Probably, DVI ->HDMI can fix the issue. This is beacuse DVI and HDMI are both digital while VGA is analogue.
