Shield Tablet: Shield controller vs Third-Party controller

So guys, I got the Nvidia Shield Tablet, however I am kind of limited in what I can play because I don't have a controller. Yes I can plug in a mouse and keyboard, but that is not exactly portable...

The new Shield Controller looks pretty god, however the price tag right now is 70€. The old one is not available where I live tho.

I know there are some features that only the original one has, like the Shield Hub button, the volume buttons, the Wi-Fi direct connection and so on.

Is it even worth it? Should I just get a Bluetooth controller and be set?

Also, I haven't tried Console mode yet... Because I need a controller... Do I need the original one for that?

Thanks for all the replies!

Alright, I actually like PS4 controllers. And I from what I know, I can use them with just a Bluetooth dongle when I want to play on PC right?

Do you think the PS4 one would be worth it, or should I just get some cheapo bluetooth controller?

So... I have read a bit about using a PS4 controller with the Tablet and many people have problems with it. I don't think I am gonna take the risk.

Do you have a different controller right now?

Maybe I could get away with a wireless Xbox 360 controller? What do you think?

Also, is there a way to like revive a thread so it can pop up again for people to see it? I am on this forum for quite some time, but I don't know how that works.

I dont know if i know anyone that has an xbox. playstation is more popular in NZ. Maybe you could start a new post asking if anyone has used a xbox controller on shield. Iv started threads on here that dont get responses; i guess the Nvidia shield isn't popular on here. Nvidia Shield is quite active on Facebook, they post about twice a week on new games and such, you could try the comment section in their posts

btw if you can get a second hand original shield controller i recommend them over the PS4 controller, the battery life is certainly better. its really good my only complaint is the touchpad for mouse input is too small to be useable, but its in a better location compared to the touchpad on the PS4 controller

So, I have the Nvidia Shield Tablet, but I am very uncomfortable playing games via the touchscreen.

I know that Nvidia just launched their new controller for the shield tablet. It costs around 70€ in my country though.

IDK.

I'd get either that or the Xbox One controller.

Then again, purchasing a Shield Tablet K1 wasn't an amazing idea since it won't get future versions of Android.

It actually will be updated to Android Nougat, Nvidia has confirmed that. They are surely taking their time though.

Also, sorry for the double-post, but this section doesn't seem to get many views, is there a different way of doing it?
