So I  was thinking about this the other day while watching some benchmarking for a friend to see if he should get a 1060 or an rx 480 which i personally would rather have him get but me being unbiased for him i noticed that the 1060 beats out the rx 480 in some games and vise versa. and i thought to myself what if you crossfired an rx 480 and a rx 460 4gb and overclocked the hell out of the 460 to make the speeds as close as possible and to have the rx 460 and 480 beat the 1060 and come closer to the 1070 in performance. i dont have the money to test this myself but i would love to see what kind of performance gain or loss this would cause.

You can't do a 460 with a 480, only a 470 and 480, and then you'd have close to 1080 performance in some games, the crossfire video is of course without 6 months of driver improvements

the 480 already caught up in DX11, it's the clear winner for me anyways, especially factoring in free-sync display savings

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I dont think that is possible due to the 460 and 480 have different chips to each other. Here's an article about having a rx 470 and 480 in crossfire. http://wccftech.com/rx-480-rx-470-crossfire/
