A quick power supply question

DeadCrusade

Alrighty, I have some psu that I used since I got my case, now after some time I expanded my gpu and cpu to some at least more acceptable performance but lately I found out that the psu is starting to heat up quite rapidly after I start a game or some benchmark,

My Current psu

Specs:
CPU:AMD Athlon 880k

GPU: MSI 7850

RAM: 2x4GB

One I just found

Now my question is that even if the psu I have installed in my pc right now is "per watt" more powerful (which I know it doesn't matter as much) and that is made by some obscene company which makes it less reliable, would the latter psu be enough for these parts? note nothing is overclocked.

The one you just found (I'm making a somewhat educated guess) is PROBABLY still mediocre. @Aniallation @STRMfrmXMN would know better.

But your build will only pull about 200-250w~.

I know, but considering first one, would it be some good short time upgrade?

To be perfectly honest, I would consider sticking with what you have and hoping you don't have a problem since the load is relatively light (<250w at full load). And just hold out until you do a proper system upgrade.

It's not necessarily the best advice, but it's probably what I would end up doing -- unless that Enermax PSU is dirt cheap. (either way, it's probably advisable to get it even if it's cheap and not dirt cheap)

Define extremely hot? Does it have decent air flow? Is it maybe clogged with dust? How much is the Enermax PSU?

Hot enough that I can't hold my finger on the psu for more than a minute with me playing doom, no cable obstructions no nothing so I think it does, I actually cleaned it week ago so it's clean, I found it in my spare parts box

Oh, then definitely use the Enermax PSU.

Yeah, I thought you were going to buy the Enermax. For free it was no question much better.

Don't know much about that particular Enermax (a few of their units are a bit "meh") but it's most certainly a better option than what you have now.

Since this is only a short time solution, what would you suggest for me to get? please consider I plan to expand this pc quite a bit in future

Can you afford an EVGA 450B or Seasonic S12?

I can't even find the first one being sold here, though Seasonic S12 is being sold, so yup I can :)

I gave it a look goes from 430w to 620w and since the price 620w is couple of euros higher I figured I could buy that one since the upgradeability later on :)
