faster SSD?

I've seen brackets on amazon etc, that you can connect a SATA 2.5" SSD, to a PCIe slot.

If you do this, will you achieve larger speeds?

Yes, they are faster than normal SSD's. But more expensive too.

No as they are limited by the SSD itself and or the sata interface unless you got something like a M.2 Nvme drive.

I thought that SSDs are limited due to SATA 3 speeds.

They currently are held back by that which is why  2.5inch SSD's are only capable of a max of 550MB/s and designed for that limit. It was the reason the M.2 interface and designed for the higher throughput and smaller size.
