Ok, I've come to a dilemma: Pick a more expensive, more future-proof build or pick a cheaper build. They are effectively the with the exception of the CPUs and the motherboards. I plan to add another GPU for crossfire.

What i suggest is this. Wait a little longer for the new amd zen cpu line to come out. Surely prices on the intel side will drop, and maybe, if amd didn't lie us about the new cpu's, you might bet a better offer for your money.

Beware of him that is slow to anger; for when it is long coming, it is the stronger when it comes, and the longer kept. Abused patience turns to fury.

4GB of VRAM is just fine btw. PSU efficiency doesn't matter (so much), but the internal component quality does, and anything by Seasonic is fine :P

But is 4GB of VRAM as futureproof as 8GB? I want this build to last

Future proofing doesn't exist. By next year, everything in the build except the PSU and the case will be outdated, and outperformed. 4GB will still be fine for 1080p for a long time to come though :P If you really want, spend £30 more and get the Sapphire Nitro+ 8GB RX 480.

It's because I've heard ganes will start using more and more VRAM in the future

It's possible for that to happen, and if you're really paranoid then just spend £30 more for the Sapphire Nitro+ 8GB RX 480 :P
