Am looking at getting a 1440p ultrawide but is powering like trying to power a 4k monitor due to it being 3500x1440 (i cant rememebr the exact resolution of the ultra wides) or is something in between when is comes to FPS

ie if in normal 1440p i get 80fps and in 4k i get 60fps on a 1440p ultra wide would it be 70fps for arguments sake or would it be like trying to power the 4k monitor? please help am lost and highly confused.

1440p ultrawide is closer to the normal 1440p then 4k. Between normal 1440p it is about 1,4 miljon more pixels, but the step to 4k is more then 3 miljon pixels above it.

Also meassuring that in fps is not a very good indicator, since there is way more besides resolution that influences the fps. What is your GPU setup?

You can also check my guide in te signature under the GPU chapter for a bit more info on what comes looking around for this kind of things.

can i ask what clocks your card is at and the settings in game because i would of thought you would get a much much higher fps then that due to i get double that in bf1 on ultra at 1440p (VRS) and bf1 is no half ass game on graphics

Thats why I mentioned the resolutions and the pixel difference, since that is the better way to describe it :)

A thing that is overlooked quickly with higher resolutions are that videosettings also have a much more exponential impact because of the ammount of pixels. So a adjustment that seems to do not that much on 1080p can give much bigger differences on higher resolutions.

Sure (forgot about that, sorry) - highest settings with antialiasing and ambient occlusion disabled, no Hairworks either

most of the time I have it at stock speed = 1342 Mhz, sometimes I OC it to 1375 - 1400 MHz.

Edited my previous reply. I didn't notice much improvement with higher clockspeeds though

I have a Predator x34 with the 3440x1400 resolution.  It maxes at 100Hz.

I currently have a 1070 which plays everything at max but my single 980 was playing Witcher, Tomb Raider and a few other games at high settings with never a dip below 60FPS and more often 80+.  Honestly this monitor doesn't need massive GPU power to run things on nicely.
