Hey everyone,  Finished my build and am a bit concerned about the temps I am seeing.  Is this normal?

I7 6700k not overclocked in an NZXT H440 case with a Corsair H100i V2 AIO.  w IC Diamond compound.

Seeing 50c at idle and 72c at load with Real Bench.

What seems odd to me is the temp bounce a lot + - 5 degrees on idle and load all different cores.

I had an i7 950 with an H60 that had got lower temps and the temps were more stable temps.  it was in a different case.

No, they do not. My 6700k overclocked to 4.4Ghz idles in the mid to high 20's and loads are <70c (outside FPU stress testing which pushes to 80c).

This is in an itx with no front intake, $30 Cryorig H7 cooler,  140mm top fan acting as intake,  low rpm exhaust in a room with no ac.

that's funny I did just watch that yesterday.  My set up is the worse case scenario top rad with an open cooler GPU (EVGA flavor)

that's why I asked.  I haven't even started overclocking and I am seeing high temps.  He has an aggressive OC with pretty high voltage.

I don't think I can switch to a front mount. I have too many hard drives I think.

The H100i V2 does report a temp as well.  Does anyone know what that is measuring?  Is it the water temps?  If that is the case those temps are 32c idle 36c load.  I wonder if I don't have a good thermal paste spread.

You should also provide room temps. For example, if the pc is, for whatever reason, sitting in a room where average temp is 30°C, your temps would be impossible do achieve.

Room temps are around 22c according to my infrared thermometer.  (check the wall near the intake, the desk and the surface of the case and the cat)

Just an FYI I am watching the CPU Package temp bounce between 34 50 and 60 No under load and just here on the internet.

True, I live in the desert regardless. Even during last summer it was still idling at lower temps in a room with awful insulation. Winter is definitely helping, but OP also has that going for them with beefier cooling.

Update,  Today I pulled the Block and pump.  I cleaned off the paste and regooped it.  I am in a 22-23c room seeing 62c ish under load running real bench stress test.  That's 10c better than last night.

My spread pattern looked like a football and was only as wide as a US nickel.  I guess I was too conservative with my paste application.  It seems to be better.  I'm going to start a gaming session and really heat up my GPU and run the stress test again to see how much my GPU affects it.  As that was the situation I was in last night.
