Using G-Sync in multiplayer games question

Hey guys, recently picked up a PG279Q and I must say that G-Sync sure does make things buttery smooth after originally being sceptical. Anyway I play a lot of Overwatch and other FPS' and was told by somebody to disable it due to input lag that of course gives me a slight disadvantage. I was then told by another person that the input lag issue was fixed. So... which person is right?, as I would really like to get the definitive answer.
