Just got a new SSD, installed it, plug in the sata and the power, booted up, not in my windows area, check bios and nothing there either. Not sure if dead sata cable, dead power cable, or DOA drive. Help?

Go to Windows Disk Management and see if it is listed there, you might just need to attribute it a letter through there.

First you will need to install windows on the drive.

Then there is probably an option in the uefi to set the hard drive boot priority.

The reason your are not seeing the drive in explorer is because its not formatted.

If you want to clone your current drive to the SSD, go ahead and the cloning software will sort out the partitions for you.

One easy way of making the SSD number one in the boot priority is to move it to the first sata port (eg sata 0 or 1)

Right click the unallocated space. It'll give you a list of options to do. Should be pretty easy to figure out from there

I did move it to 0 (my hdd is on 1) after it didn't work on 3 or at least when I thought it wasn't working, I'm getting the acronis software now provided on adata's site to clone the drive.

If OP is going to clone the drive he does not need to format the drive before he clones the data.

Proper cloning software should be able to take care of this step.

I personally use AOMEI Backupper to clone my drives.

Do keep in mind tho that the boot partitions (the first two small ones on your 1TB drive) dont always clone correctly. If this happens and your still cant boot from the SSD tag me and ill help, trust me, ive been through this many times ;)

Yup, your ssd is quite alot smaller than your hdd.

If you have fast internet, i could reccomend you do delete some big games, and reinstall them onto your hdd later ;)

Nope unchecked I still get it. So weird, I'm only using like 175GB and I have 238GB on the SSD, should be no problem. And that 175 is with all the system files too. I deleted documents, games, temp files, recycle bin, all that's left is literally just like programs and files.
