So I love the idea of being able to play PC or console level games on a mobile device.  For that reason I am looking at getting a Nvidia SHIELD Tablet but I have a LOT of questions before I pull the trigger.

First, of course I can stream the games on my PC to the tablet right?  That might be a dumb question but on Nvidia's website they are driving the GeForce Now thing really hard.

Speaking of the GeForce Now service, what happens to your progress on a certain game?  I would assume it is saved in the cloud because that's where the games come from but again, Nvidia doesn't say much about that even in the FAQ.

And to those of you who own a SHIELD Tablet, how is it? Are you subscribed to GeForce Now and how is that?  Worth it?  Also, how is it gaming on an 8" screen?  And with Nvidia's controller?

Or is the whole thing even worth it? I already have an iPad Mini and found out I can use Moonlight to stream GeForce games to it but the 1080p resolution looks smaller because the iPad has a different aspect ratio or something I think. Anyway, I will probably think of more questions as time goes on but if anyone can shed some light on things for me that would be great, thanks.

Bought the first Shield Tablet before I even had a compatible desktop card. It was an awesome tablet at first but was plagued with restarts and problems. Got rid of it before even trying to play games. A friend of mine plays NBA 2k17 on his tablet all the time and loves it.

The Android app version of NBA or the PC version streamed?

Streamed from his PC iirc because he brags about it all the time.

I have a nvidia shield tablet and tbh i haven't used any of the nvidia features.

However, it's a great thing and the performance you get for the price are like insane.

Also, software updates, nvidia goes a great job keeping the damn thing updated.

Never had any issues with it btw, everything is still working fine.

I have an rx 480 so i haven't used the streaming stuff and about geforce now, i would use liquidsky.

Much cheaper but sadly in closed beta due to high demand. If you pay for it however you get instant access :P

But I doubt it would be better/take over from my iPad Mini right? As it's just a normal Android tablet and I do prefer iOS.

Raw performance, the shield destroys the ipad.

The thing is that it has a kepler-based gpu, which is insane. I mean that's high-end desktop stuff forced into a damn tablet.

But then again iOS stuff is usually a lot more optimized, but then you can make the argument the games specifically developed/ported to the shield are very optimized as well.

It's a discussion that can go on and on, but imo the stuff on the shield gets optimized very well and raw performance wise it clearly beats the ipad mini.

Soo yea... Quite a tricky question with no real correct answer.
