m,2 overheating questions

if i use a m.2 fora boot drive and a couple games will it overheat

it won't overheat, they will trottle so they won't. It might be a bit slower on very highend drives, but you won't notice it

I did this to mine:

 

While like the others said, it will throttle and not overheat, I figured why not keep the performance up and prevent the thermal throttling

That depends on the M.2 drive. Some have better cooling and aren't as fast as others.
