What should I do ?

XenosTech

So I emailed Sapphire support a few weeks back because my 470 shut off my system twice while gaming and checking the gpu-z logs my chip had hit 90c not once but 4 times in a row that night. They told me to send it back and I have til the 6th of next month to send it to them.

So last week I flipped the fans on my 240 rad at the front of my case to pull instead of push and I noticed that my temps were back to normal for my gpu whether idling or full gaming load they were normal and by normal i mean 40-45c for idle and 65-70c while playing bf1 on ultra and I confirmed that with running kombustor for a full 24hrs and my highest temp at one point was 78c.

I mean everything seems normal for the past 2 weeks... should I still RMA the card ?

Hi,

maybe try getting back to Sapphire, see if they think you should RMA the card. Personally, if the issue does not appear again even after this change I think it's not necessary.

Also, are you using a custom fan curve for the GPU? Maybe try fiddling with that.

Yeah custom fan curve and my fans run at 100% past 80c but I did find it odd that the card hit 90c 4 times in a row and caused 4 back to back sudden shutdowns with the same fan curve and it didn't happen until the start of the month

RMA it. if you had issues they will probably come back.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Highly doubt the issues will be back... But main reason I don't wanan RMA means I'll be stuck with igpu for about a month or so.
