So I was installing some sweet RGB fans when I slipped while cutting a zip tie and stabbed my fucking motherboard.

Anyone know if it's even possible to fix this? (See attached pics). And if it is, who does repairs like this? I'm in the NY/NJ area.

The board was also $90 so if it's going to cost double that, I'll just buy a new one. It's an ASUS Z170-P D3.

Thanks.

Ouch! Those traces are done for. I've only known a few people who repaired traces on PCBs, but they were in the Navy, where you might have to repair a PCB while at sea and have no other replacement on hand. I'd expect that kind of specialized work to be expensive.

Sorry for your loss. You'll almost certainly be better off getting a new mobo.

Geese, I've had moments where I nearly scratched my motherboard but I've never gouged it like that. Most of those traces are definitely gone. If you have a soldering iron and some very thin wire you can try repairing it yourself.

Thanks for the input guys. I tried starting it right after but it gets to the ASUS boot screen and starts freaking out lol. I also tried running with one ram stick in each of the slots but that didn't work either.

I was thinking of sanding the board down a bit and soldering some wire between the breaks. I'm kind of worried about the CPU though.
