So the holidays are coming up, so i'll have an extra bit of cash to spen (around 200-250$)...So i figured why not watercool, if it is possible, I'd like to get a CPU (Intel) only custom loop for around the 200-250$ mark....... I just have a few stipulations.......... I really want - Primoflex Pro LRT 3/8" ID, 5/8" OD tubing in UV blue.........any reliable semi-quiet pump............any liquid that is going to combat microbe growth (preferably no additives) I guess silver fittings would work too...........and a nice looking CPU waterblock......

yeah :P not gonna happen haha I DO however dismantle my whole PC every 2 months to perform a little "dust removal" not much is removed, but every little bit helps...if I end up water cooling, I'd probably change it to every 4 months or so

Do you know how much of a pain draining and refilling a loop is not to mention you would need to flush it out with distilled water and change the tubing

Aurora as said before is most definitely not for common consumer use.

If you need to cut costs, 2nd hand radiators aren't that bad (if coming from a good seller.) Pick any block that's in your price range that you like the looks of, any Intel block will do as the difference between them is usually pretty small. While clear UV tubing is fine, it will fog up and will need to be replaced in a few months most likely.

Use distilled water and a silver kill coil or PTnuke, if you need to save some cash on your fittings pick up XSPC barbs and use 7/16th ID Primoflex with 1/2 OD barbs or 3/8th OD tubing with 7/16 barbs (if they exist). If you still find yourself running short on money, skip the reservoir altogether and make a T-line res instead.

Avoid pump/res combos. A Swiftech 355 or Laing D5 are two of the better pumps out there, the pump is something you probably don't want to skimp on.

and as always watch your metals

okay, that's a lot to handle at once xD...any chance you can make a build on FrozenCPU or a website of your choosing? I'd greatly appreciate it :)

follow the thread, i'll try later I have class soon. I assume you're in US.

Yes that's fine, but take 1/2 ID compressions and 1/2 ID tubing if you're using compression fittings.

sooo...this? http://gyazo.com/dfee0490ed4efca94ec25a49e9627f5c any where I can cut the price that won't impact me too much?

http://www.amazon.com/Swiftech-MCP655TM-Laing-Vario-controller/dp/B001G6S1JY

thanks! :) any other possible switches I could make to maybe lower it a little more? If not, this is perfect (for now)... Is that enough fittings? Or will I need more I was counting off the top of my head

When you say this, is there a better option than compression fittings? I was under the impression that compressions were the best choice

You should be fine with 6 I think. Like I said, you can build a T line res instead of a normal res if you so choose to.

Compression fittings are the best, in terms of aesthetics. Regular 1/2 barbs with 7/16 tubing is cheaper, still sturdy, and still looks pretty good if you do your cuts right.

You can ask @Ghost if he has any opinions on your build and if there are any places to cut costs on it. If you use compressions with 1/2 tubing, you might want to stop by a local hardware store and pick up some worm drive clamps for the pump barbs, it's not necessary but it doesn't hurt being safe.

I am able to up my budget to around 400-500$, so I don't have to worry about cutting costs until later... with the extra 100 - 200 dollars I can use, do you think I could get anything better? (stupid question) ... but would maybe a thicker tubing be better? or would it be better to get a better radiator first and then worry about the res and tubing?
http://imgur.com/AaAu1NO - added a different res and a different rad...this seems to be okay...dunno if there is a better option for around the same price or not, but this seems good :)

I forgot, I have a 550W PSU...would watercooling use a lot of the power from my PSU or is it minimal? if so i'll have to upgrade my PSU also...

Depending on the pump they use 10-~30W.

Have at look at point 2.8 in the watercooling FAQ for a basic (cheap) loop example.

http://imgur.com/xjXQb4K Pretty sure this is what i'll be purchasing, unless what the things about that res i have been hearing are true (that they shatter after a few months of use) then i'll reconsider.. :)

also considering this one http://www.frozencpu.com/products/19676/ex-res-490/Monsoon_Series_Two_Premium_D5_MCP655_Dual_Bay_Reservoir_w_Quick_Change_LED_Control_-_Matte_Black_w_Black_Trim_M2-D5P-MB.html?tl=g30c97s168#blank Just realized it had an integrated pump so I don't think I'll get that one ;) looking for one like that that doesn't have integrated pump
