Tubing turning brown

The clear xspc tubing I'm using is getting discolored, and some spots look almost brown.  I'm almost certain its from the heat, my 7950 and 8320 kick out a lot of heat.  It's been running for about 3 months and I added some biocide if that makes a difference, 5 drops ish.

Are you mixing blocks (Brands & Material)? Could be some materials reacting with each other.

Its only the outside of the tubing, i just have my 8320 wc so the 7950 blows out really hot air and it heats up the tubing

no xspc raystorm block and rs 240 rad, I'm pretty sure its heat, should I be worried? when you burn pvc tubing it does turn a brownish color.

it doesnt scratch off, if you look down the tubing, the middle ring is fine its just the outer layer

  • 2 months later...

Hi,

I also had similar issue with the XSPC tubing. I have a 7990 on a loop in my office at work and it gets pretty warm in here.

One weekend it just turned a light green/brown and at first I thought algae, but the water in the res was totally clear and in the drain part of loop that held much cooler water.

I think with the heat being pulled into the case from the rad, it baked the tubing.

I have upped the cooling a tad in my Air540 and will probably use Primochill on the next rebuild.

The temp in your computer will never (shouldn't) get hot enough to discolor the tubing. If it does then you have much bigger problems to deal with

i have XSPC tubing and i havent noticed it changing colour except turning red as thats my coolant colour. if you are only using a 240mm rad for a 8320 and 7950 that could be the reason i would say add another 240mm rad minimum
