I have a noob problem

Hi, I have a problem with my first computer that I am building from scratch, it will not display to my monitor despite from what I can tell, everything else is working just fine all the fans are spinning and everything. Something to note, I am using a DVI to HDMI adapter, to connect to my tv, so that could be the problem, but I have no way of checking.

What are the specs of your computer and where is the display cable(s) plugged into your computer?

fair enough have you not got any old screens lying about that you could test using VGA just to see if your adapters bad, also what is the native reolution of your screen as it may be trying to display at a higher resolution that the screen is capable of displaying.
