Hi guys,

I currently own the iPhone 5 and was offered to change it for the new Nexus 5. I have been very interested in this phone lately and it may convince me to switch over. I am however a big user of the Apple eco system and was wondering if it would be a lot of hassle to switching over? I currently use a Mac, iPad and iPhone and also use an Apple email address with some data stored in iCloud.

Is it worth the hassle to swap the phone for the Nexus or is it not really worth it?

Thanks

I know a few people that are switching from the 5 and even 5S to the Nexus 5, and I would say it's definitely worth it but it depends on what you use your phone for. If all you do is go on Facebook and play a few games then it's probably not worth the hassle but if you want more features and better device overall then I would switch to the Nexus 5

If you want to use Android yes

I have used it in the past but only in the early days such as 2.2 and 2.3. Since then I haven't used it extensively. I think its interesting to see, especially in the Nexus lineup

I think android is great...they have really caught up to apple's app store, but I think it can be frustrating switching from apple

That's my concern, most people who switch are independent but a lot of my data isn't with Google, its with Apple. I do however have Google accounts but no Gmail, only iCloud emails.

you can also feel free to give me the Nexus 5 if you decide that you don't like it

Well if I decide not to get the Nexus I would simply keep the iPhone, I would only get it if I chose to.  :D

I'm not quite sure what you mean by google account....If you have a account that you created on a google website you can log on to gmail, google+,youtube and so on

My Google account was an original one before you needed a Gmail, at the time I used my old email and now switched to my iCloud. Thus I have a Google account, (YouTube, G+, etc) but I don't actually have a Gmail, its linked to my icloud.

Depends on your usage. If you feel you need/really want Android, I don't think there's a better phone right now (maybe HTC One google play ed. for the build quality). But if you are happy with how your iphone works, I'm not really sure, especially since you are so deep into the Apple ecosystem. Lots of people who like the simplicity of iOS aren't happy with Android. You could always get one and sell it on if you don't like it though...

How do the cameras compare? I heard the Nexus 5 camera isn't as good as the 5S but what about the iPhone 5?

It's not quite as good, but the advantage of the Android OS and other spec advantages such as screen size far outweigh the very slight drop in camera performance, at least to me anyway. The N5 camera is 8mp with OIS so it will still be good. The camera's performance is said to increase soon with software updates, which will probably already be available by the time you get the phone. The 'hassle' is up to you. Stock android on a fantastic phone like the N5 is an unbeatable experience, it's up to you.
