What if I connected two of the SATA ports on my motherboard with a SATA cable? Would stuff break? Probably.

Same thing as if you plugged a power bar into itself.

...probably. Or, probably nothing would happen. I'd say that depends on your motherboard manufacturer.

You could try it and let us know. But I doubt anything would happen, they are not power supply cables so they wouldn't be able to fry anything (probably, i'm not liable if you try)

Yeah, I would try, but I am afraid that something will break. I just built my PC about a week ago.

My question is...why would you WANT to?

I wouldn't risk your main PC and a storage drive then. I just don't think it'll work. One drive cannot occupy two SATA ports at the same time natively.

I do not want to use a drive. You seem to have misunderstood. I just want to hook up two motherboard SATA ports together.

Okay, so what would that accomplish? Nothing will happen I'm sure.
