Hello there!

I am going to upgrade my rig in the next week, but I'm kinda stuck with decision.

Atm it looks like Phenom 955 and GTX 460.

I can afford 770+psu, or 4670k+mobo+psu, next upgrade planned for January, up to March.

Therefore, what would you guys advise me? Get the gpu right now, or change platform in the first step? I know I coulda sell my current rig and then get something efficient but I'm kinda like pesimistic to that, since I don't want to get something like average cpu and gpu, rather strong gpu now, then strong cpu later, or the opposite way.

I've got good mems, cooler, pretty damn good case and stuff, therefore I only want to change gpu/cpu/mobo/psu.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT

Rig is mainly for gaming @1080p.

What I'm looking for is instant performance boost, so if changing cpu won't give me enough boost in your opinion, I will just go with the gpu.

No need to follow it, got it bookmarked :P

16gigs of corsair 1600MHz CL8 memory, Gigabyte 970a-ds3 mobo, kingston v300 120GB SSD, some HDD, all that stuff packed up in NZXT switch (don't ask why so much memory and in that huge and expensive case - won them on giveaway).

Oh, and Scythe Grand Kama Cross on the CPU

Not even worth to mention, some LC-POWER Green 600W, voltage on lines jumps a lot (I've checked it) that's why I want to change it. I didn't check how efficient it is, since I don't really care after I've seen how voltage jumps (for example 12V is 11.20-12.50, 3.3V never actually reaches 3.2).

Upgrading your gpu to R9 280x or gtx 770 would give the biggest performance increase. You might just get a fx 8320 and put it in your current mobo but I wouldn't overclock it a lot. But yeah I understand why you would want to upgrade the mobo as the blue pcb looks terrible :P. A 500w psu should be enough but pick a trusted brand like: seasonic, xfx, corsair... etc

Edit: I would get the 280x but it depends on what you want, if you want to use shield, shadowplay or maybe even g-sync you should get the 770 obviously.

Yeah in case of psu I though of Corsair RM 550... But maybe I'll go with some platinum up to 600W. Just in case if I'l want to sli in the future.

Where are you buying from? 600w won't cut it for sli, I would get 750w for that or maybe 850w for overclocked 280x's

I don't know exactly about that motherboard... but have you checked if it can support a 6350 or a 8350? If yes then you can get a cpu + psu + hopefully a 770 if you save up a little bit longer. Then some time in the future just get a new mb

Errr I am from Poland, and our prices a bit differ from yours. When you look at average earnings of 2000PLN, while the GTX770 costs 1200PLN on average, you can easily find out how much a rock solid and powerful psu will cost me.

Also, according to this, while good 750 is enough for double Titan,  I believe strong 600-650W will be way more than enough for double 770, which I'm not even sure of getting :P

Ya well, according to the tests I've seen, it's not really worth to stay at amd camp if I'll have to change mobo anyways... It's still not going to be cheap and still will make me upgrade all that stuff in parts because of cash so I'd rather just keep myself with a brand new gpu then collect the cash for new gen intels :P Anyways, answering your question: Yes, it supports 6350, but it doesn't support 8350.

EDIT

Interested in shadowplay, that's why 280X isn't considered :P I am not a fanboy or whatsoever! 280X is amazing in that price chart afaik.

Well in that case get the 770 and a 650w or 750w psu, 750w for some headroom and to be 100% sure. 650 might be a tight fit when also overclocking cpu and both gpu's if you add one in the future.

Platinum PSU's aren't worth it for gamers. You have to actually stress your PC a long time to make it 'effective' I am bad with wording it, but having a 80 plus bronze for a gamer is more then enough. A gold PSU will save you like 5/10$ depending how the energy bills are. So if you spend 25$ more for a 80+ gold compared to a bronze, it will take about 3/4 years (depending on energy counts) before you are equal.

Just need to buy a PSU from a good brand.

Corsair, Seasonic are the 2 I prefer personally, but there are more great PSU makers out there.

NZXT Phantom windowed, Asus Z77 Sabertooth, Intel 2600K, Noctua NH-D14, EVGA 780 Classified, Crucial Ballistic Tactical, Crucial M4 128GB + Samsung 850 EVO, Corsair RM850, Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty Peripherals: Sennheiser HD598, FinalMouse Classic, SteelSeries Qck Heavy, Ducky Shine Zero (MX Brown), AOC G2460PF & Qnix QX2710

i looked at yyou board and you can handle the 8350 but you might have to flash the bios thats it and you will get a decent amount of boost with fps as well as it keeps up and in some cases beats the 3570k
