New heatsink for matx board

Kerble

Hi. So i just swapped claustrophobic Fractal Design Core 1000 to Define S, and now i can actually overclock without turning my case into a little owen but it didn't took me long to reach limits (4.6GHZ, 1.175v and 75c under load) of my current cpu heatsink, which is Thermalright True Spirit 120m with Noisblocker BlackSilent XLP fan. The problem is that first slot on my motherboard is occupied by graphics card, which limits my new heatsink width to about 135mm at most. I'm not sure how much i wannt to spend, but water cooling is definitely too expensive for me.

What do you think about getting Cryorig H7? Or maybe Thermalright True Black 120 + my current fan? Is this even going to be significant upgrade?

Here is my pc

4690k

z87 Gryphon

2x8gb Kingston Hyperx ram (low heatsink)

I hope i didn't slaughtered your language too much :)

Cheers

Yep. It looks like i won on silicon lottery, i can even run SuperPi on 5GHz 1.32v, but i don't dare to run any heavier application with my baby cooler and that voltage. I'm aming for, let's say 50$ price point, but i might spend a little bit more if it's really profitable in terms of cooling performance.

Why replace your heatsink? 75c is perfectly fine.

I would like to push this cpu overclock a bit further. Besides, i wannt to squeeze that Thermalright i currently use back to Core 1000 which is currently occupied by my core 2 duo potato pc.

Here http://www.komputronik.eu/category/6206/processor-fans.html

Also few other local computer stores but they have pretty much the same offer and prices.

The site doesn't use dollars. What's your actual budget?

You could get an Ereboss Core and reuse your current fan: http://www.komputronik.eu/product/245777/raijintek-ereboss-core-black.html

Looks great, but it's 140mm width. My current heatsink is 132mm and between him and gpu backplate is literally 4-5mm so 140mm coolers give me about

0-1mm margin. I think it's a bit too close. And there is so many good looking 140mm heatsinks :(. I will never get micro atx board again.

Why not just run the graphics card in a lower slot?

I could, but they are x16/x8

It doesn't really make a difference.

I know, my bad i forgot to quote last time. Some people say there is no diffrence between x16 and x8, others there is some, not high though, i'm confused.

And what do you think about Thermalright Macho 120 Rev.A? 120mm wide, should fit with ease, but is his performance some real upgrade after my current cooler?

3.0 x8 is the same bandwidth as 2.0 x16. It's plenty and any difference would be negligible with a 480.

The Macho 120 isn't that much of an upgrade and the Ereboss would be better.
