Weird CPU cooler behavior

Maybe you attached your cpu fan to your fan controller.

Nope, it's plugged into my motheboard I checked

Maybe it's changing to compensate for the different temperature due to changed airflow in the case.

That would make sense :) But it spins up almost instantly when I turn down my fan controller.

Hmm. Strange.

Also, how would it know that the airflow is changing?

I just mean that it might have been reacting to the change in temperature. The temperature which is caused by the change in airflow, not changing because of the airflow itself.

If your CPU cooler is set to automatically adjust, it will adjust pretty fast. Of course you can check temp monitoring and see how much lower case fan speed effect on CPU tems.
