amd drivers and linux don't get along very well. you need the glrfx driver package ( its spelled something like that i can never remember).

This should get the drivers but they don't support any mobile features or GPU switching so rip battery life (if its a laptop). Optionally you can go install the full catalyst software from AMD but I've never gotten that shit to every work right on Linux

apt-get update
apt-get install fglrx fglrx-amdcccle fglrx-dev

Current: R2600X@4.0GHz\\ Corsair Air 280x \\ RTX 2070 \\ 16GB DDR3 2666 \\ 1KW EVGA Supernova\\ Asus B450 TUF

Old Systems: A6 5200 APU -- A10 7800K + HD6670 -- FX 9370 + 2X R9 290 -- G3258 + R9 280 -- 4690K + RX480

After you decide what driver you need, look in synaptic package manager for it. I prefer Nvidia for Linux, as Nvidia makes their own proprietary drivers for it. Open source is nice, but if a hardware manufacturer is willing to make and give away drivers for linux, I much prefer the real thing.
