How would I update bios

How would I update the bios on my asrock z170 board as I can barely overclock and feels like I wasted a lot of money

Updating the BIOS is very unlikely to make overclocking any better. Unless something is broken or there's a specific feature you need in a BIOS update, it's best to leave it.

Are you sure its the board? how far are you able to overclock it and @ what voltage?

Could be unlucky silicon lottery, just because K chips have an unlocked multiplier, doesn't mean they'll all overclock well.

Probably more on the K chip. Just return it and try again with another 6700k.

Over warranty this is my 2nd chip

Overclocking is a lot of luck. You can get good and bad chips for overclocking. Overclocking isn't the only feature of Z170 boards and K chips are about $10-20 more than the standard ones, so it's not really much of a waste.
