I am in the process of upgrading my machine for 3 way sli 770s, and I will be getting a new motherboard that surports it.

The current motherboard that I have is the Asus Sabertooth z77 which looks really nice, but does not have enough expandtion slots I need for 3 way Sli.

It also has really loud motherboard fans, which I managed to get them to only turn on when the cpu gets hot so there quiet.

I was going to get the Asus Rog Maximus V extreme, but its eAtx and I'm not sure it will fit in my case (Corsair C70), so I found the Asus P8Z77-V Premium, which does not look as nice or have the features of the Rog board its still really nice.

So if you can help me see if this board is the right one for me or will the Rog one fit?

Thanks, Alfie.

The Rog Maximus fits...tightly :), but fits.

You won't have all the mounting brackets in though, and part of the cable management holes will be covered.

I would do this but wont the motherboard short out over there? I thought it was bad for the motherboard to touch the case.

So why 3 way 770?

3d over 3 screens, considering 2 780's or just getting another 7970 but I loose the better 3d.

3 way SLI scales horribly sell the 770's you already have and get 2 780's or aftermarket 290x's when they come out.

I have not got any of the cards yet, I still have a 7970 I have to decide what to do with. I might get 2 780s.

Technically yes, but never seen anyone fry there board yet doing it....

But yeh, its a problem, the board isn't designed to fit inside the C70.

You don't have to have the assist fans installed, I took them off and there was no impact on my temps. Tri-SLI scales like crap, just wait and get two 780 Ti's.

2 780's would scale better and perform well or a second 7970 would also be a good upgrade heck you can put a 280x in and crossfire them.

Scales badly and crossfire/SLI beyond 2 cards is not well supported. Get a 780ti or Titan instead, maybe two 780s. Or you could wait for Maxwell in early 2014.

Thanks for the reply's everyone, I will think this over and might just get the Asus Maximus V formula and get that sweet Supreme FX.

I might go for 2 way SLI 780's. The idea for 3 way Sli was for 3 screen 3d gaming.

personally I would just buy a 280x matrix and crossfire it but since you want 3D yeah go for the 2 780's or 2 780 ti's due in the next few days.
