This is pretty nice as you can use this to stream videos and use it as a music player if your TV isn't a smart tv. :)

Is the inability to play CDs because of the absense of hardware? Or do you guys think the inability to play mp3s and CDs are because of a licensing issue or something?

Also i think ps4 will have external harddrive support for non game installs like videos audios images and probabily backups. But no game installs.

they work for video photo and music data just not game data

The inability to play CD's or MP3's is to support Sony's Music Unlimited Service.

Better than not having it at all and or having to pay (even $5 a month) to listen to MP3's on the PS4. What if none of the music on the silly Music unlimited interests us?
