Ok. I have my copy of Windows 7 ready to install. However, when I boot my

bios and prioritize the cd drive (its recognized right away) I click it and the Bios resets, but the PC does not turn back on. I have tried everything including turning the pc off, holding the reset button, and turning back on. It still does not work. I am

not able to even eject the disk drive to begin with. Is it possible to boot from a disk drive in 2017 bios or is this not possible anymore? I need a solution. The motherboard is the Asus Gene mini itx, and this is my first build so apologizes if this is novice question. I have also troubleshooted by trying to turn off safe boot so that I could try and prioritize to "cd-dvd rom" boot as priority but there is no option to do so in this bios as it is greyed out and unclickable. Please help! Also, just to be clear, any time i make any adjustments to bios and it restarts i get a blank screen even though pc is powered on. I have same experience even after doing full "reset".

Note: I even tested to see a bios restart and left it on all night and it still never came back on.

OK, there's your problem then, you need to inject drivers into the windows 7 installation, you'll have a bit of work to do here... you need to create a windows 7 installation disk/usb with usb3 drivers injected  http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/utils/ASUS_EZ_Installer_Win7.zip?_ga=1.236429633.114281723.1482528015

I've seen loads of people fall into this problem with z170 boards, IMO it's easier to just use windows 10, but if you're insisting on using windows 7 I've linked you the tool above, and reference on asus website.

Hey Paddystone,

Again, appriciate the help but I had an idea. Would I be able to clone my Windows 7 OS from my laptop I currently use to a hard drive or ssd installed on my new pc? I have a bunch of extra wiped hard drives and external ones as well that I am

not currently using that might give me the ability to do this? Let me know. Thanks again!

Nope, you need the USb drivers for the motherboard you are going to be using in the windows 7 ISO. There are no shortcuts AFAIK. Make a windows 7 ISO, or download one, and then use the tool I linked to to inject the drivers... then you can either burn that ISO to disc, or use a USB.

Ok I've tried everything injecting for windows 7 and even gave it a go with windows 10. It boots and tells me it cant detect the drivers. I'm fucking done.
