Concidering upgrading Cpu mobo + ram Questions

So i think my title says everything BUT what I'd like to know when buying new CPU over my i5 4670K, I'll only be playing gaming and might be small photoshopping, so in that case I don't need the i7, but the i5 6600K should do just fine i suppose.

Also the motherboard world is really massive also know I should go for the right socket 1151 :)

But the question about motherboards:

1. Should I go for an exspensive one?

2. What difference is there like on ASUS Z170-A, ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VIII RANGER and ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING/AURA

I don't really care if they do not give me any form of performance boost, also please help me, would an more exspensive motherboard pay off for gaming? :)

sorry for the confusion

1. Depends

2. It all comes down to features, more expensive motherboards (usually) have some features that the cheap bare-bone boards don't have including WIFI, Bluetooth, extra USB ports, or even just aesthetics.

@OsuMasterz

At 2. I don't care about Wi-Fi and that I only use one card GTX 1070 Strix, and I don't see myself buying one more, I'll just be sure if i maybe buy a  140 dollar Mobo it will give me same performance as a 300 dollar mobo, if you understand me? :)

pretty much, but make sure they are both "Z" series motherboards to allow OCing always they aren't the same for performance.

You should look at Z170/Z270 boards. Probably Z170 for the 6600k.

None of them have WiFi (Not that matter much to you anyway). They will all allow you to overclock, but more expensive boards perform a little better at that, but it is still mostly dependant on the silicon lottery and CPU cooler. How much you want to try to overclock up to you. You should easily be able to hit 4.5 with Z170 A though.

It's at best, 10% faster in games. A lot of its gains come from faster RAM actually.

Re read what you said. You said 6600k is not an upgrade from the 6600k.

He meant the 4790K. Also to OP, dont upgrade to a 6600k over  that, just a waste of money for little performance increase.
