7700k disappointment?

Intel doesn't typically lower their prices on previous gen cpus. They pretty much have things on a good lockdown where they release the cpus at a fair rate so prices don't exactly fluctuate unless the demand is too high and they can't ship them out fast enough.

This is the article when the 5820k was actually cheaper or a better deal than the 6700k due to S/D.

 

However it might slightly affect the used market somewhat if you're looking to get a 3770k or perhaps some X79 stuff.

Other than that I wouldn't recommend anyone getting it unless they're ready to part with their sandy/ivy bridge from years ago for cool stuff like USB 3.1, NVMe, xPoint/
