Looking for a router that can handle 150 mbps speeds on wifi

Well I just upgraded my internet ( with verizon ), and their router is a piece of junk in my opinion. I am planning to set their default router as a bridge and just run my own. If you have any suggestions for routers that can handle the 150 mbps speeds on wifi please post your suggestions.

About any 802.11 N router "can" support up to 150mbps. Honestly I would buy a wireless router that can go much faster. WiFi speeds are generally half or even less than rated speeds. Might check AC routers they can do much faster speeds. As far as brands I see ASUS suggested a lot.

well my last router was a 600 mbps 300 / 300 dual band, i never saw anything close to that speed, even on lan transfers. I have heard that the asus routers have a lot of firmware issues and brick when updating, but I will have to look into an ac router

Mb = Megabit

MB =Megabyte

there are 8 bits in a byte so if you divide your (Mb) by 8 you'll get (MB)

150 megabit wireless N should give you a theoretical top speed of 18.75 realistically you'll get a max of about 80% if your theoretical max so about 15 MegaBytes a second.

150Mb/s = 15MB/s (theoretical 18.75MB/s)

300 Mb/s = 30 MB/s (theoretical 37.5MB/s)

600 Mb/s = 60MB/s (theoretical 75MB/s)

Gigabit wierd = 100MB/s (theoretical 125MB/s)

isnt that what i said? mbps= megabits-per-second? When i was referring to my router I was stating that I never saw anything over 20 megabits per second on wifi. Using the verizon router i see 80mbps or Mbps, but that doesn't cut it because it has a lot of restart issues.

my router suffers because it has internal antenna's and there is about 20 other wireless networks in the area ( apartment living )

Depends on how much you are willing to spend, for example a Linksys ea4500 will be more than enough for your needs, even the lower tier Linksys'es are good if that is out of your price range.

Asus flagship one is very good http://www.asus.com/Networking/RTAC66U/ , there is a wireless N variant if you don't need AC.

All i can say is don't cheap out on a router, better save up for a good one later than a crappy one now.

money isn't an issue, my wifi has been headache enough to warrant me spending what ever i need to get it fixed
