Directx 11.1 for windows 7?

There has been some rumors floating around that battlefield 4 uses directx 11.1 to boast performance like crazy, sadly its only on the bullshit OS known as windows 8 and 8.1. My question is there anyway to get directx 11.1 working on windows 7 or is it a lost cause?
