We really could use a little more information.

have you enabled usb debugging on your phone?

Are you plugging it in while it's waiting for download?
Then you press the power button until you hear the new device tone in windows, then let go?

Hmm that's unfortunate.

Have you installed the MTK preload driver? it can be found here.

It could be your USB cables like it's suggesting. (I know you said you've tried 2 cables but micro usb B connectors are horrible and are known for failing) It could be the USB port on your phone.
If your phone is up to date it is possible that they've since patched the way they root the phone.

That is the same method. Might be set out a little differently but it is doing the same thing in the same way.
If you have to non prime version you can enable adb and oem unlocking.
Reboot into your bootloader.

fastboot oem unlock

(phone will be wiped)
turn on the phone. enable adb
reboot into bootloader again.
fastboot boot path/to/twrp/twrp.zip

flash supersu.zip

That's all I can think of sorry.

If you really want root I would suggest getting a new phone.
Something more power user friendly like a OnePlus or a Nexus (Not so much pixel) (I'm sure there are plenty of other choices)
What is it you're trying to accomplish. Perhaps there is a way to do it without root (Although I imagine you've already checked this)

It looks like amazon replaced the pre-loader in their 6.6 update in september. It prevents this method of rooting.
I can't find anybody who has managed to root it since.

im trying to disable the lock screen on my phone and amazon has locked the switch so that you cant turn the lock screen off. I want to use a third party app for my lock screen and right now i have 2 lock screens.
