Soooo after a week of trying Win 8, Win 8.1 and Win 7 I can't seem to install drivers - Windows 8 and 8.1 it just black screen rebooted after the windows logo came up and Win 7 it did the same but I managed to get into safe mode and uninstall the drivers; idk what it is but it's extremely annoying >_< and it's stopped me from gaming for an entire week... Additionally the GPU is barely handling Windows OS most likely due to the lack of drivers.

How do you mean handling? If your board has iGPU, try it also. On drivers try downloading from manufacturers site or using older ones.

Don't have an iGPU and I get like frame drops so to speak when I minimise windows etc. aero effects are laggy

Are you sure the power cables are connected securely and that the card is seated correctly in the PCIe slot.

Yes 100%

Can you list the system specs? just so I'm sure what i'm talking about. Have you tried running Driver Sweeper? There might be some corrupted driver files already on the system, atleast in the case of Windows 8.

And if the card is factory overclocked, try setting it to a lower value.

Everything is at stock right now >_< and I've formatted and installed Win 7, Win 8 and Win 8.1 fresh installations so it couldn't be that - a GT520 is wayyyyy past warranty ._.

Well, Windows 8 comes with the Forceware drivers for NVidia cards (Possibly AMD aswell, but I'm not sure), and I have had my fair share of trouble with those. Have you tried the graphics card in another computer? It might be that the card is defective.

I'm yet to try it in another computer but it was fine before

Sometime hardware can die at the strangest times.

As the last thing I can think of: Have you tried the Omega driver to see if it works?

I remember certain 320.xx series drivers that kept doing that on certain setups. (installed fine, but you end up in a reboot loop after it)

Omega drivers are pretty old (169.25) but a good way to see if its driver related,if it is working fine with those then try using the 314.22 drivers http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/59641/en-us (64 bit) ,http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/59640/en-us (32 bit)

Tried it and nothing so I thought okay how about I test the Ubuntu drivers... Got a screen that looked like a dead pixel fixer (this)

Sorry for the long response time. It begins to look like a dead card. Either that or the minitor, but I doubt that since your getting a picture befor you install the drivers. .

One more thing is to try downloading drivers that Windows update suggests. After those are installed real drivers should work. That is if card itself is really ok.

I'm gonna assume it's a dead card too :(

-> Check card at a friends house (if you have a friend :P )

Same stuff? Check GPU market for new card...

The main issue with that is that pretty much all my friends are AMD and the drivers won't play well together; tbh I'm gonna just not use any drivers and just use it to surf the internet etc till my build in 3 weeks.

How would I get Windows update to suggest drivers?

Don't really know :) it does it to me sometimes with win7. I have usually ignored them, but once drivers wouldn't update before they were installed.
