i havent seen an "acceptable quality" fan with molex plugs in ages, and never seen one with sata

I used to have 15k RPM 12V fans in my server so it doesn't set fire to the city.

Even with the insane number of fans I had attempting to cool the server, the CPUs were still hovering around 65-70C and the HDDs around 50. Only thing I could do further was to install a couple leafblowers instead of the fans.

I plug my regular fans into a 3/4pin to molex with a resistor because fan cables are ugly and I don't really need variable fan speed with case fans - they're just there to circulate air. If you do similar the brand can be the cream of the crop.

speedfan says my corsair AF 120s are running at 65K+ RPMs

 

As for the OP:

 

You can plug fans into the plugs labeled sysfan or cpufan. As most fans are 3 pin, but there are aftermarket fans that are 4 pin as well. There are also adapters for them like 2/3 pins to 4 pin molex than can be used to plug directly into the molex connector from the PSU

may i just note that if your fan is running at 65K RPM you're quite literally entering jet engine terretory.

maybe it's just a software error, because at 65K RPM a plastic fan will quite literally rip irself apart.

thats what I was thinking myself. I noticed alot more temps of things I never even seen before till now. Some had temps of -1C heh

I'm using fans molex-psu connected, sure they aren't the highest end fans however aside a little more noise (which doesn't bother me at all but makes me nostalgic about the past xD) they function good enough and does what I need them to, also they have one of the best blue leds I've seen in a fan what made the build look just how I wanted ^^
