34" curved 144mhz gaming monitor

Tedlarsson

Hello, I'm new to the forum and not extremely competent when it comes to monitors. I'm looking for a 34" 144mhz curved monitor to use with my nvidia GTX 960 graphics card. I have a Intel 5 skylake CPU. I am currently looking at the LG 34UC79G-B but it's wondering if there is any other monitors that are equal or better at that 700$ price range? The games I'm playing are rocket league and dota 2. And I'm not considering playing any other games. I'm also considering buying a new graphics card. Either a GTX 1060 6gb or Amd Radeon 480 8gb. So g-sync or free-sync both works.

I would buy one with Freesync so you can eventually enjoy the joys of Adaptive Sync.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

why you would use freesyng with a nvidia GPU? they dont work with each other i'm right?

you should look for a g-syng monitor and the 34" monitors out there is this one

http://pcpartpicker.com/product/WDcMnQ/acer-monitor-umcx1aa002 but is expensive.

Yeah I edited the text during the time you wrote. I'm also considering upgrading my graphics card. I'm currently choosing between the two models now listed in the original question.

Sorry I forgot to mention I wanted a curved monitor.

Cheapest curved is this Dell on B&H

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1112687-REG/dell_ultrasharp_u3415w_34_3440x1440.html

I would buy that, and the 480 gains a bit of ground on the 1060 so I would get one of those (the 8GB probably, although on DOTA 2 and Rocket league the 4GB will do fine as well)

Cheapest Freesync is $900 as far as I'm aware, and cheapest Gsync is upwards of $1200, so I wouldn't pay the premium there.

Freesync monitors work with Nvidia GPUs but the adaptive sync bit doesn't

You'll have to do 2560x1080 then. In that case, the 34UC97B you originally posted is the best deal.

With these graphics cards you only want 1080p just letting you know if you want 1440p got with a 1070 I'm not sure about the 480 it might run 1440p

Yeah I have come to terms with the fact that I will have to be happy with 1080p at my budget level. But thanks for the heads up!

I am considering this monitor also. It's 32" so I lose the ultra wide aspect ratio but I can live with a huge 16:9 ratio I think. The site is Swedish but the specs and info is in English. Anyone got some thoughts about it?
