So I made the wise decision to try out Windows 10 again and now I have a problem with my C drive randomly spiking to 100% usage, it happens no matter what I am doing at the time causing everything to temporarily freeze. If i manually restart my PC whilst it is in this temporarily frozen state my PC stops recognising my boot drive until i restart for a second time. I looked around on google and this described my problem but didn't fix it : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3083595

Any help will be very much appreciated. (And this was a fresh install by the way)

100% utilisation at 1MB/s is nothing to be concerned about.

However if you want to track it down in real time, open Resource Monitor

Select the Disk Tab

Expand all the fields

Set the Filter by 'Total (B/sec)
This will let you see what is causing it.

It wouldn't be that much of a problem if my PC didn't freeze every time it went to 100%, I will keep the resource monitor open but I am not completely sure what I should be looking out for.

If it freezes at 100% utilisation at 1MB/s then you have a problem else where.

Either the drive is on its last legs (check the wear level in Samsung magician) or you have a problem with the HBA (Disk Controller) which is probably not set to AHCI mode.

I am pretty sure that it's a setting that needs to be changed somewhere, the disk had been running perfectly on Windows 7 and the drive is in "good" condition according to Magician with 25tb Written (It's also in AHCI mode )

Is the 840 Evo on the latest firmware available?  There was a problem with the old firmware when the TB written was high.

Yes magician says that it is on the latest firmware.
