(Specs below)

In every single game I seem to play, very noticably in Shadow Warrior 2, Hitman, Warframe, sometimes in Battlefield 1, even in DOOM, an incredibly optimized game, my FPS is ALL OVER THE PLACE. It's not low frame rates, my frame rates in every game in ultra or high is usually 50+, which is great. My problem is that its an uncontrolled frame rate. It goes from 60, down to 50, then up to 80, then down to 30, all in 3 seconds, and it's been happening in every game I've been playing lately. And it causes a lot of stuttering, and I really notice it. I have installed latest drivers, cleaned my system with the air spray. Re installed every game that I tried, put games into my SSD, validated the local caches, and I cant seem to think of anything else to do. The ONLY thing I can think of is how hot my GPU gets, It goes up to 80 degrees sometimes, lately I saw it even go up to 84, but I asked around and people tell me that their GPU gets that hot sometimes, and they dont experience the same problems as me.

XFX R9 390 8GB

i5 6600k 3.5 Ghz (Can't overclock because I bought the wrong mobo)

Asus H170-M Plus

16 GB RAM

CPU fan cooler, (I dont remember the name but it keeps my CPU under 40 celsius

1 TB HDD 5400 rpm

256GB SSD

750w PSU

Case: Corsair Air240

Viewsonic 144Hz 1080 monitor with free sync

I really, really need help.So I literally have to put this everywhere. .Because I can not find an answer to this problem no matter what I do. There seems to be many people having this problem but I havent seen one solution that worked and the solutions I do see, it's only for a specific game, and I am getting so sick of it I'm literally about to just sell my PC. I would appreciate any help I can get, I'm on vacation so I have a lot of time to sit down and work on it. Thank you for your time. I have a Discord and Skype.

Try reverting back to pre-ReLive drivers (aka Crimson drivers/16.11.4 and older).

Some people are having issues with the new ReLive drivers so maybe that's causing it? :P

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Thanks for the quick response. So I should delete the drivers I have now and re download 16.11.4?

Use a program called Display driver Utility (Aka DDU) as that would properly uninstall and 'delete' the drivers from your system and then download plus install 16.11.4 :D

Is your GPU getting too hot?
I have an R9 390. When I had my GPU in my other case there was severely limited airflow which gave me similar problems.
Maybe your fans are obstructed or something. (I don't know what the temperatures should be at.)

Other than that, it COULD be certain instances in the game?
In certain areas of maps there are more enemies on screen, or it load in a huge chunk of a level.

Here is an example of what I mean by maps loading in:

I don't typically have as huge problems with frame rate dips as you do, but the only game we share is Doom (2016 I presume) and only rarely does it dip below 70/80 on ultra settings in Open GL.

Hi, thanks. The only thing I can think of is my  GPU getting too hot, but there are some people with similar temps as me that dont have this problem. I dont see why it would be the airflow, because the problem I'm having is fairly new, and I havent even moved my fans, in fact, I just installed a fan controller and sped up the speed of my fans, so my air flow should be better. Also, it MAY be the games, but if it's happening in 4 different games I have tested, then I think it's my system

Which option do I use? Sorry if it's a dumb question, I'm new to all this and not really a tech savvy person

I'd recommend clean and restart but in my experience, clean and do not restart works as well so...picking any of them is fine :)

Ermmmm...I don't know...are the drivers still installed? If not then maybe ignore it and try to install the 16.11.4 drivers?

Is there still a AMD control panel or anything AMD related open? If not then it's probably uninstalled and just proceed onto installing the old 16.11.4 drivers :D

Hate to say it, but with 16.11.4, It seems the problem persists, I just checked Shadow Warrior 2 to see if there was a change, but its still just as bad,my fps goes from 80,60, 78, 90, down to 58 all in like 5 seconds, its all over the place

Hmmm...so it's possible that it's not an issue with the drivers...

Can you download something like GPUz (if you don't already have an application that tells you your clock speed) and report back what clock speeds it's running at and whether it jumps around a lot or not.

I will download gpuz now, is this the site? https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

Also, I've never used this program and I'm kind of a noob when it comes to this stuff.
