is it worth upgrading from asus r9 280 to Sapphire Nitro+ Rx 470?

Not really. The most you would get is a few more FPS. You should save your money and go for a 480 or spend it on something else.

i will not buy the gpu someone wants to trade me for my gpu.

not really an upgrade, but if the price is right you could easily do the 'sidegrade' for cheap after selling the 280.

if it's a no strings trade, take it.

IDK. If someone is trading a slightly better gpu for a slightly worse one, why are the doing it. If you have buyer protection, then go for it, but if you don't, be wary.

yes, very much so, you'll have the extra few frames and lower temps
